Out of the eclectic blanket chest is one of my camp blankets. This a rare double length Beacon cotton camp blanket, reversible (double shuttle jacquard woven) with rows of geometric patterns (not Indian) and you can see the centerpoint rows where it would be cut if it were to be two blakets. Ombre orange blends into the cream with grayish blue and blackish brown designs and stripes.
Measuring about 68 by about 156 inches, the edges have satin binding, which has been reinforced with another satin binding. Not surprised because the orginal satin bindings would often fray or come off completely. No holes, worn spots or repairs other than the binding. No stains or faded spots. No label but definitely a Beacon. I was quite sure of it being a Beacon and it was confirmed by Barry Friedman (who only buys and sells the Indian designs. He has some amazing blankets).

Care for the cotton Beacons (from a paper label found on a 1930's camp blanket made for the W.T. Grant department store chain): "Wash separately with a mild neutral soap in lukewarm water, pre-spot soiled areas, let the suds do the work, and rinse in at least three clear waters. Then hang evenly lengthwise on the line, without clothespins. Avoid hanging in the sun. Stretch blanket frequently both lengthwise and widthwise while drying. Use a soft brush once the blankets are dried to restore the fluffy nap. Press the bindings (but not the blanket) with a cloth and warm iron."

Please drop me a note if any questions!
