This is Sylvester. Sylvester is a super cool docking station for your ipod or iphone, fabricated from a delightfully tattered 1940's Silvertone Portable Radio.
Sylvester had a rough life. Since being manufactured in the 1940's, he has faded, frayed and been stuffed into boxes and basements. When we found him, it was love at first sight.
To convert him into his current state, we started by removing all of his original, defunct electronics and replaced them with a new 15 watt amplifier and 3.5" Pyle 2 way speaker. The sound is great, plenty for the average room...or the coolest cubicle in the office.
For controls, we added a new toggle switch that turns your amplifier on and off. A new volume control is topped with the original, wooden volume knob. To dock your device, we've installed a universal docking tray that is compatible with all ipod classics and iphones through the 4s. Your device charges whether your speaker is switched on or off.
Cosmetically, we cant improve on 70 years of patina, so we gave him a good cleaning and left him alone. We did add a green LED indicator light to the face and a strip of amber LED's inside the cabinet that all illuminate when the power is switched on.
From his awesome leather handle, to his closing cover door, we think Sylvester is an awesome blend of the old and new. Grab him before he gets away.
