This object is from the series, "A-Frames", and is a display shelf for hanging on a wall.
The A-Frames are geometrical shelves that can be hung on a nail and used for displaying arrangements of small objects on a wall. Shapes include variations on triangles, parallelograms, and other forms.
They are an exploration into geometry, color and display in the form of functional wall objects. The shelves are inspired by a Danish folk design from the island of Amager, near Copenhagen, and are hand-cut with traditional woodworking saws. Assembled using simple wooden lap joints and no glue, the frames can be taken apart and flat-packed for transport.
We were interested in making them as a sculptural wall object that was both functional and pleasing, and also for housing our various collections of small rocks, sculptures, found objects and keepsakes.

All our pieces are hand-made to order. The shelf we make for you may vary slightly from what is pictured, though we make every attempt to be as consistent as possible. We consider these imperfections to be part of the charm, uniqueness, and process of making them by hand.
The A-Frame shelf comes fully assembled in a reusable box custom-made for the frame.
The frame is stamped on the back to identify its makers, "CHIAOZZA".
Surfaces are deliberately left unfinished unless otherwise noted.
