This BEAUTIFUL Antique Vintage Quilt is done in a Variation of the BROKEN DISHES Pattern. It is Hand-Pieced and Hand-Quilted. Scrap Fabrics include stripes, plaids dots, geometrics, checks and some solids. Colors include many blues, reds, tans, ivory, browns and pinks among others. . The Backing is a darker plaid homespun. All fabrics are cotton as is the somewhat thick batting. The Quilt measures approximately 72" x 75". ............Hand-Quilting was done at about 4 spi in a concentric squares pattern. The Quilt was likely made sometime in the late 1800's or early 1900's. It does show some wear and there is irregular fading throughout. I found evidence of wear along the two "Chin" eds. One end has one wear hole a little smaller than a pencil-tip-eraser along with a 1/3" and a 1/4" wear hole on the binding. edge. The opposite end has three wear holes on the binding edge...each is about the size of a pencil-tip-eraser plus another wear spot just beginning. One can detect some irregular yellowing on the solid light colors throughout the quilt. (I have not laundered it.) Specifically I found one square that with a light brown stain that covers about half of it. There are two adjacent blocks that show some yellowing along with a faint light brown silver-dollar-size stain. Elsewhere on the quilt I found one surface hole about the size of a pencil-tip-eraser, one seam pop, one square with a one-inch tear and a 1 1/4" tear. Also there is one black and white stripe fabric used that is breaking down one square and two triangles. The blue print Border also shows some irregular fading that is quite obvious in one corner of the quilt.
The nice plaid Backing is in the colors of a darker blue with dark pink and white..... It was brought around to the front to serve as the narrow binding...... On the back I found one tiny tear about the size of half of a pencil-tip-eraser along with a small spot of the same size. There is one tiny hole a little larger than a pencil-tip-eraser' On this side you can see that there are a few quilting stitches popped. and there is some light irregular fading.

Overall this quilt is in very good condition. With the exception of the aforementioned black and white stripe fabric, the other fabrics appear to be in fairly sturdy condition. One can actually use this quit but I would not expose it to hard wear (such as one a child's bed). .... The entire piece is quite lovely and the colors blend beautifully. A VERY Nice Antique Country Quilt!!!

I do have more photos available upon request.....
