A distillery executive took some samples out on a wild turkey hunt. The next year his hunting buddies asked, 'where's some of that wild turkey whiskey" and the brand was born. Today Wild turkey has at least five varieties of bourbon as well as a few different ryes. I like 'Support Wildlife!' better than their current slogan 'Give 'em the bird.'
In 2000 a massive Wild Turkey warehouse was destroyed in a fire and thousands of barrels of whiskey dumped into the Kentucky river killing hundreds of thousands of fish. Guess what, Wild Turkey does support wildlife, the company donated a half a million dollars in an effort to restore the fish.
This tan t shirt has brown ringers. The image of a flying turkey and the slogan and branding is in dark brown. The small print reads 101 proof. 8 years old. Austin, Nichols Distilling Co. Lawrenceberg, Kentucky. 1976.
This t shirt is from a large collection of new; unworn and unwashed, tour t shirts from Boston, Mass between 1978 and 1979. The man who collected these t shirts worked security at The Paradise Rock Club, as well as other venues, and has the stories to go along with these extremely rare and highly collectible t shirts. They have been folded in the same drawers for 35 years. I will be listing over 100 vintage collectible tour t shirts.
