Blue Bell / Wrangler Jean Jacket. Worn to perfection, perfect for the look that David Beckham has made famous, these antique jackets have an amazing color.

I believe this is a pre 1948 Blue Bell Jacket. The Blue Bell Overall Co. purchased Wrangler in 1943 and made their first jean jacket in 1948 under the Wrangler Blue Bell Label name.

Blue Bell Overalls made jean jackets for cowboys and ranch hands for many years, pre 1948. Blue Bell used snaps to close their jean jackets.

Blue Bells' first Wrangler jacket made in 1948 was very similar to the ones they had been making for years, but this debut one had metal buttons not snaps. Blue Bell continued using their gold dots and pleated front on this new Wrangler Blue Bell jacket.

I purchased this jacket from a person who wore it in the 60's and then stored it in cold storage till now.

Interesting rare areas on this jacket:
It has brass snaps and Wrangler's early gold thread dots on the front folded pleats, it also has their early narrow collar. The stitches are a golden color matching the dots. This jacket does not have the "W" stitched on the upper pockets. The last owner has put a row of silver STUDS across each pocket's top area, they look great. Note the space between the studs and the two top pockets.

The size looks small, please be sure to check the measurements below, there is no size on the jacket, again this is a small size for a slim person, male or female the brass snaps are on the left side.

The Measurements are:

On the backside from armpit to armpit on the arms bottom section – 18” across

Length at center of backside from collar top to bottom edge – 22”

Shoulder area on the back side – 18 " sleeve length – 24"

Chest on front 18" - Length of collar at bottom of its edge 16"

Condition:

The jacket is worn all over, the arm cuffs are very worn and have tears and taters and missing areas (see images of details). There are some rust looking stains under the back collar and on the cuff areas.

The pocket on the left has a faint star looking area, looks like it might have had a patch at one time that was taken off leaving a darker color. It's hard to notice in person but has shown up in the photos, it looks great.

There are no tags, they were cut off long ago. The collar is worn and tread bare on its folded area.

There are some repair stitches on both the lower arms, they are hard to notice, they are very neat looking using black thread, there is an open area on the arms where the stitches have come loose and the inner stitches are holding it together, the jean color is darker in these areas (see photos).

Some of the brass snaps are worn in their center from use and age. Some of the gold treads have worn away in many areas also. All of the aging of this jacket is from natural wear, nothing has been done to age it in anyway.

Amazing piece of Jean History, this is a very rare Jean Jacket, it is plenty strong enough for many more years of use. Not returnable - so be sure of size, email with any questions before purchase.
